Moss looks harmless but it acts like a sponge. It holds water against the tiles, lifts them as it grows underneath, and washes down into the gutters where it blocks the outlets and downpipes.
We clean roofs by scraping the moss off by hand rather than blasting them with a jet wash, which can force water up under the tiles and strip the surface. We then clear what comes off out of the gutters, so the job is finished properly.

Questions about roof cleaning
Why scrape rather than pressure wash a roof?
A pressure washer can drive water up under the tiles and wear away their surface, which shortens their life. Scraping takes longer but removes the moss without damaging the roof.
Will the moss come back?
Over time, yes, especially on shady or north-facing slopes. Clearing it every few years stops it building up to the point where it lifts tiles and blocks gutters.
